FMGE Registration 2026: How to Apply, Dates & Fees

By Dr. Utsav Bhattacherjee, MBBS, MBA · Last updated:

FMGE registration is made to NBEMS through natboard.edu.in, separately for each session. Before you can complete it you need an Eligibility Certificate from the National Medical Commission, which is a different application to a different body and takes an unpublished amount of time, so candidates who wait for the FMGE bulletin before starting the certificate routinely miss the sitting they were aiming at. Start the certificate as soon as your final result is declared. The registration form submits once. NBEMS sometimes opens a correction window for some fields and announces it in the session bulletin, but it is limited in scope and it is not guaranteed, so the details you enter should be treated as final at the point of submission. Application windows, the fee and the examination date are published in the bulletin for each session on the NBEMS website rather than fixed in advance.

Registration runs at natboard.edu.in, and it cannot be completed without an NMC Eligibility Certificate you should already be applying for.

FMGE registration dates

Not yet announced.

The 31 October 2026 sitting is confirmed, but NBEMS has not published its information bulletin, and the registration window is only ever announced in that bulletin. Anyone publishing exact dates for this sitting is guessing. Checked at natboard.edu.in on 9 September 2026.

FMGE now runs three times a year, not twice — NBEMS added a third sitting in a notice dated 28 August 2026. Older guides still describe a June-and-December calendar. Every FMGE session date has the full schedule.

How to register for FMGE

Four steps, in the order they have to happen. The first one is not with NBEMS at all, which is where most of the lost time goes.

  1. 1

    Get your EC first

Apply for an Eligibility Certificate from the NMC at nmc.org.in before anything else. Without it you cannot complete the FMGE application, and processing takes time.

  2. 2

    Create your account

Register at natboard.edu.in when the bulletin is released. Keep your login credentials safe — you will use them for every future session.

  3. 3

    Submit documents

Upload your passport, foreign degree with Embassy attestation, NMC Eligibility Certificate, and photograph. Everything must match your application details exactly.

  4. 4

    Pay and confirm

Pay ₹6,195 online and save the confirmation. The fee is non-refundable. Watch for any NBEMS notice about an edit window after submission.

Step one is a separate application to a separate body and it is the usual reason a candidate misses a sitting. How to get the NMC Eligibility Certificate covers who needs one and how long it takes.

Documents required for the FMGE form

Everything is uploaded during the application, and the details have to agree across all four.

  • Passport, all pages

Scanned and legible, including blank pages. The name and date of birth must match your application exactly.

  • Foreign medical degree, attested

Your primary medical qualification with Indian Embassy attestation from the country you studied in. An unattested degree is the most common reason an application is held.

  • NMC Eligibility Certificate

Issued by the National Medical Commission, and required before the application can be completed rather than alongside it.

  • Photograph and signature

Recent passport-size photograph and a signature, both matching the file size and dimension limits the bulletin states for that session.

FMGE exam fees

₹6,195 inclusive of GST, per session. That is the last confirmed figure, stated in the NBEMS information bulletin for the June 2026 session.

Treat it as subject to change rather than settled: the bulletin for the 31 October 2026 sitting is unpublished, and a fee review formed part of the concessions NBE agreed to in 2026. Confirm the amount at natboard.edu.in before paying. The fee is non-refundable whether or not you appear, and it is paid on the NBEMS portal and nowhere else.

What goes wrong most often

  • Starting the Eligibility Certificate too late

The NMC process takes weeks and runs independently of the FMGE window. Candidates who wait for the bulletin before applying for the certificate routinely miss the sitting they were aiming at.

  • A name that does not match across documents

Passport, degree and certificate have to agree. A middle name on one and not another is enough to hold an application, and it is slow to resolve once submitted.

  • Treating submission as reversible

The form submits once. NBEMS opens a correction window for some fields and announces it in the bulletin, but it is limited and it is not guaranteed.

  • Paying anywhere other than the NBEMS portal

The fee is paid at natboard.edu.in and nowhere else. It is non-refundable whether or not you sit the exam, so save the confirmation before closing the window.

New to the exam itself? What FMGE is, who can sit it, and the paper pattern covers the ground this page assumes.

Looking past the exam? The FMGE internship, CRMI and NMC registration covers what happens once you pass — provisional registration, the 12-month internship, and the permanent registration that follows it.

Questions about registering for FMGE

Registration happens entirely at natboard.edu.in, the NBEMS portal. You create a candidate account when the application window opens, complete the form, upload your documents, and pay the fee online. Before any of that you need an NMC Eligibility Certificate, which is a separate application to a separate body and takes weeks.

The last confirmed figure is ₹6,195 including GST, as stated in the NBEMS information bulletin for the June 2026 session. It is non-refundable whether or not you appear. The bulletin for the 31 October 2026 sitting has not been published, and a fee review formed part of the concessions NBE agreed to in 2026, so confirm the current amount at natboard.edu.in before paying.

NBEMS announces the window in the information bulletin for each sitting. For the 31 October 2026 exam that bulletin has not been published, so the registration window is not yet known. Anyone publishing exact dates for it is guessing. Check natboard.edu.in directly.

Three, as of a NBEMS notice dated 28 August 2026 which added a third sitting to the traditional June and December calendar. Older guides still describe two sittings a year. There is no limit on the number of attempts.

No. The NMC Eligibility Certificate is a prerequisite, not a parallel step, and the FMGE application cannot be completed without it. It is issued by the National Medical Commission rather than NBEMS, and the two processes have separate timelines.

Your passport with all pages scanned, your foreign medical degree with Indian Embassy attestation, your NMC Eligibility Certificate, and a recent photograph and signature matching the specifications in that session’s bulletin. Details must match across all of them.
