FMGE December 2026 Exam Date: What We Know So Far
The FMGE December 2026 session has not been officially announced as of August 2026. Based on the tentative NBEMS annual calendar and the pattern from previous December sessions, the following dates are expected. These are estimates, not confirmed by NBEMS.
| Event | Expected date |
|---|---|
| Information bulletin | Around October 2026 |
| Application opens | Around October 2026 |
| Application closes | Around November 2026 |
| Exam date | Last week of December 2026 or January 2027 |
| Admit card | About 2 weeks before the exam |
| Result | Around February 2027 |
| Scorecard available | About 2 weeks after the result |
| Application fee | Around ₹6,195, subject to change |
One naming quirk matters here. The "December session" is named after its registration window, not its exam date. The exam itself is held in January of the following year. The December 2025 session exam was held on January 17, 2026. The December 2024 session exam was held on January 12, 2025. If you are planning around fmge exam date december 2026 january 2027, plan your preparation calendar for a January sitting.
The FMGE exam date page on this site carries the latest confirmed schedule as NBEMS announces it.
Historical FMGE Exam Schedule: All Sessions
The pattern is consistent across years. June session exams are held in June. December session exams are held in January. Registration opens 6 to 8 weeks before the exam in each case.
| Session | Exam date | Pass rate |
|---|---|---|
| June 2026 | June 28, 2026 | 12.77% |
| December 2025 | January 17, 2026 | 23.37% |
| June 2025 | June 2025 | 18.61% |
| December 2024 | January 12, 2025 | 29.62% |
| June 2024 | June 2024 | 20.89% |
| December 2023 | January 2024 | 20.57% |
| June 2023 | June 2023 | 10.20% |
| December 2022 | January 2023 | 32.20% |
| June 2022 | June 2022 | 10.60% |
December sessions have consistently outperformed June sessions on pass rate over the past five years, averaging approximately 24 to 25% against 14 to 15% for June. The most likely reason is additional preparation time: December session candidates have typically had more months since MBBS completion to prepare specifically for the Indian exam pattern.
FMGE Eligibility Criteria 2026
To appear for FMGE in any session, candidates must meet all of the following criteria at the time of application, not just on exam day.
| Requirement | Detail |

| Medical degree | MBBS or equivalent from a foreign university recognised in that country |
| Degree recognition | University must appear in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) |
| Embassy attestation | Foreign degree attested by the Indian Embassy in the country of study |
| Eligibility Certificate | Valid EC issued by NMC, required before applying |
| Degree completion | Final qualifying exam result must be declared before the session's cutoff date (April 30 for June, October 31 for December; verify in the official bulletin) |
Who does not need to sit FMGE:

| Primary medical qualification from US, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand | Exempt, provided they also hold a PG qualification and are eligible to practise there |
| Candidates admitted to foreign institutions before March 15, 2002 | Check current NMC guidelines, partial exemptions may apply |
| Indian MBBS graduates | FMGE is not required, they sit NEET PG |
FMGE Exam Pattern 2026: Locked Sections and Structure
The exam format has two features that directly affect how you should prepare. Both have been in effect since the 2024 sessions.
| Parameter | Detail |
|---|---|
| Total questions | 300 MCQs |
| Total marks | 300, one mark per question |
| Pass mark | 150 out of 300 (50%) |
| Negative marking | None |
| Question type | Single best answer, four options |
| Mode | Computer-based test |
| Duration | 5 hours total |
| Part A | 100 questions, pre and para-clinical subjects |
| Part A duration | 2 hours 30 minutes |
| Part B | 200 questions, clinical subjects |
| Part B duration | 2 hours 30 minutes |
| Language | English only |
Since May 2024, each 150-question part is divided into three sequential locked sections of 50 questions and 50 minutes each. When the 50-minute timer ends, the section closes automatically. You cannot go back to review or change answers in a completed section. This is the feature most candidates underestimate during preparation.
| Section | Questions | Time | After timer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part A, Section 1 | 50 | 50 min | Locked |
| Part A, Section 2 | 50 | 50 min | Locked |
| Part A, Section 3 | 50 | 50 min | Locked |
| Break | — | 60 min | — |
| Part B, Section 1 | 50 | 50 min | Locked |
| Part B, Section 2 | 50 | 50 min | Locked |
| Part B, Section 3 | 50 | 50 min | Locked |

FMGE 2026 Registration Date and How to Apply
Here is how to apply for FMGE 2026, in the order the steps actually have to happen.
Step 1: get your Eligibility Certificate first. Apply for the NMC Eligibility Certificate at nmc.org.in if you do not already have one. This is the most common administrative delay and processing takes weeks. Start the moment your MBBS results are declared, rather than waiting for the FMGE bulletin.
Step 2: monitor natboard for the bulletin. The FMGE December 2026 information bulletin is expected around October 2026. Set a reminder. The bulletin contains the exact dates, application URL, exam city list, and all eligibility deadlines. Do not rely on third parties for this. This is your fmge natboard registration starting point: natboard.edu.in.
Step 3: create an account. When the application portal opens, create a candidate account using your email address and mobile number. Your login credentials are sent by email and SMS. Keep them safe, because you will use them for every future session and for your scorecard download.
Step 4: fill the application form carefully. Enter your personal details, foreign medical degree information, and communication details exactly as they appear on your official documents. The form can only be submitted once. NBEMS opens a limited edit window after submission, so check the bulletin for those dates.
Step 5: upload all required documents. You will need your passport (all pages), your foreign MBBS degree certificate with Indian Embassy attestation, your NMC Eligibility Certificate, and a recent passport-size photograph and signature matching the specifications in the bulletin. Ensure every document is clear and legible.
Step 6: pay the fee and confirm. Pay the application fee, approximately ₹6,195 including GST, through the NBEMS portal using net banking, card, or UPI. The fee is non-refundable. Save your payment confirmation receipt.

Report to the Reporting Counter 30 minutes before your scheduled test time, which is 6:30 AM for the standard morning slot. Candidates who arrive after the session starts may not be permitted to appear.
Finger biometrics and a photograph are captured at the test centre during registration. Face ID is verified again when you collect your FMGE pass certificate. The photograph in your application form must match your current appearance, so use a recent one.
Any suspicious behaviour leads to immediate cancellation of candidature. Follow all NBEMS instructions at the test centre without exception.

FMGE Admit Card 2026, Result and Scorecard
| Event | Typical timeline |
|---|---|
| Admit card released | About 10 to 14 days before the exam |
| Result declared | 7 to 10 days after the exam date |
| Scorecard available | About 2 weeks after the result |

The FMGE scorecard and the FMGE pass certificate are two different documents. The scorecard shows your score and qualifying status and is available online for six months, which is the fmge scorecard download date window. The pass certificate is the official document used for NMC registration, is issued by NBEMS separately, and is valid for five years. You need the pass certificate, not the scorecard, when applying for medical registration.
After receiving your FMGE pass certificate, apply for provisional or permanent registration at nmc.org.in. Documents required include the FMGE pass certificate, your original MBBS degree, transcripts, internship completion certificate, embassy-attested documents, passport, and recent photographs. The NMC registration process typically takes 2 to 6 months.
